ArtServe and Holy Cross Health continue their art partnership—the second in a quarterly series of exhibitions by South Florida female artists—with "Aquarelle," a new exhibit named for the watercolor technique that uses transparent rather than opaque watercolors. \ Curated by ArtServe's Sophie Bonet in collaboration with the Gold Coast Watercolor Society, "Aquarelle" draws from the work of 12 local female artists and runs through January 31, 2022 at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women\'s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex in Fort Lauderdale. Admission is free and the Center is open from Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.\ "Named for its primary components; watercolor is immediate, intuitive and pure," Bonet said. "Like life itself, its outcome is uncertain, as water and pigments travel through the paper creating spontaneous worlds, effects and results. It is subtle but complex, ancestral and current, and a call to admire and wonder."\ \ Although aquarelle was used by ancient Egyptians, it did not achieve popularity in Europe until the 18th and 19th centuries. It was used especially in France and England by landscape painters.\ \ The 12 South Florida artists participating in "Aquarelle" are Bunny Sheffield, Carol Thaw, Celia Jenkins, Christine Landis, Claudia Hafner, Judy Nunno, Karen Tondiglia, Lois Perdue, Marilyn Johansen, Marlene Hammel, Tammy Seymour and Teresa Kirk. \ \ "These women were selected for their extraordinary creativity, which reflects our commitment to providing a healing space through celebrating the arts," said Mark Doyle, President and CEO of Holy Cross Health.\ ArtServe and Holy Cross Health renewed a longtime partnership to celebrate South Florida female artists through these exhibitions that are dedicated to showcasing the inspiration and encouragement of women in the arts.\ About ArtServe\ Named a "2020 Top-Rated Nonprofit" by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews of charities and nonprofits, Fort Lauderdale-
