Family-Friendly South Florida: What to Do with Kids in Hollywood

Hollywood Beach is a prime vacation spot for families, with plenty of beach, watersport, and outdoor activities for everyone. But if you want to spend a day dedicated to the kids, Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale, one of the kid-friendliest cities in Florida, offers an array of attractions and things to do for children. Be sure to add our favorite family attractions in South Florida to your vacation and make it one to remember.

An action-packed indoor entertainment center designed for families and kids, this Fort Lauderdale attraction has everything a child could want in a day of fun. Colorful playgrounds, a laser maze, the Ball Blaster obstacle course, and sports courts are just a few of the things to do. Designed for kids through age 14, the center is also home to Flippo the Hippo, who makes regular appearances throughout the day.

Museum of Discovery and Science:

Unleash your child's curiosity at the MODS in Fort Lauderdale, featuring dedicated exhibits and attractions for children. The Discovery Center, made for kids age 6 and under, features interactive displays that educate and encourage teamwork, while discovery labs invite kids to get involved with science. Additional exhibits and activities include flight simulators, dinosaur bone yards, a science park, and a mini aquarium that features otters and a waterfall. The museum is also home to an IMAX theater with kid-friendly showings.

Young at Art Museum:

Head about half-an-hour west of Hollywood to discover the fundamentals of art and culture through a series of hands-on exhibits and activity centers targeted towards children and young adults. Featuring a variety of spaces highlighting music, literature, sustainability, and more, the museum is the perfect way to spend a day creatively. The YAA also offers workshops and classes if you and the family are in South Florida for an extended stay.

K1 Speed:

Rev up the action at this indoor go-kart venue that offers special hours and tracks for kids and young adults. Drivers must be at least 48" to ride the junior go-karts, but admission to the track is free for all (just pay per ride!) so the whole family can attend and enjoy the competitive spirit.

Uncle Bernie's Amusement Park:

This admission-free, pay-per-ride, family-friendly park offers quintessential amusements, rides, and thrills for kids of all ages. Ride a variety of kid-friendly rollercoasters, hop on the carousel, jump around the bounce house, or enjoy rides designed for parents to accompany children.
